Meet the Team Interview: Goran

Goran is one of the Account Managers here at AMZ Pathfinder. We caught up with him to find out more about his role, his life outside of work, and what insights he has for anyone looking to pursue a career in Account Management. 

Goran was born in Serbia, in a town called Beočin where he grew up and currently resides. He studied Economics at the University of Novi Sad where he majored in Finance and Accounting. 

In his spare time, he is a passionate dancer and partakes in both ballroom and tango dancing.

Goran, tell us about your role and what you do day-to-day…

“I am an Account Manager at AMZ Pathfinder. I work on Amazon PPC and look after multiple accounts. I also work on Google to Amazon ads to drive traffic to Amazon product listings. Outwith that I also support the running of the website and some technical tasks.”

How did you embark on your career?

“I started my career in an administration role. During my time in this role, I was working for a construction company, and a lot of the job involved creating documentation for building demolitions and things of that nature. 

From there I moved into accounting and I was an accountant for 2 years. I tried different careers before I started a position inside a company that made its own ERP systems. In that role, I was working on software development and I got to learn a lot of technical skills such as SQL and reporting. 

I then started working in digital marketing. I enjoyed the digital marketing side of things as I enjoy working with numbers, that’s why I was in accounting and studied Economics initially. In my first marketing role, I began by building websites in WordPress and HTML, working in CSS and JavaScript PHP. I soon changed positions and went into web development. While I was in web development, I started learning Google Ads and PPC which led me to my current position here at AMZ Pathfinder.”

What is the most valuable advice anyone has ever given you?

“There are two pieces of advice that I value. The first is that time is something you cannot get back, so enjoy the time you have.

The other is that everything is possible, even the impossible, the impossible just takes a longer time. That is something I believe to be true. Everything is possible and you can make anything happen, just take your time with it.”

What is your favourite part of your role?

“The data analysis aspect of things is the part that I enjoy the most.”

What is the most valuable thing you have learned in your career?

“Nothing is a mistake if it didn’t cost anyone their life. Anything can be fixed.

I love that philosophy and it is such a valuable way of thinking. In my life and career, I have learned that almost everything can be fixed if no one has gotten hurt.”

What advice would you give to others who want to become an Account Manager? 

“Keep learning and keep investigating. Be proactive and curious.”

What is your best tip for companies selling on Amazon as the world becomes increasingly more digitally-led?

“Surround yourself with a good team because, with a good team, you can make anything work.”
